As stated in the other answers dust at the floor. However keeping your pc tower at floor level might cause it to accumulate dust more quickly. The computer will mostly be used for video and photo editing. Modern computer cases protect against static electricity so there is very little risk of creating a current.

The carpet isn t a great place to keep your computer but it isn t dangerous either. But carpets are really good at trapping dust pet hair and all manner of other things. Everything worked well from beginning to end of the build process and definitely was an enjoyable experience. I would only recommend this to someone who has had a traumatic experience with static damaging their computer already or they are building a rig that s either ungodly expensive or not their own.

Esd mats will more than work if you re that concerned with the dangers of static build up. I imagine dust would get caught up in the carpet which would result in a less dusty pc. Sure you can it s fine. 500dx computer case had plenty of space to work in and has a very clean minimalist look to it.

This is coming from someone who lives with a family that has 3 dogs and 2 cats so i have quite a problem with dust accumulation. Depending on the carpet wouldn t it keep more dust than a wooden floor. Don t rub your socks on the carpet while you build. And your computer well it s a giant vacuum cleaner.
